Study reveals popular brands tooth paste fail to stop enamel loss

Toothpaste alone does not prevent dental erosions. D ental erosion occurs when hard tissue is lost due to acidic break down combined with abrasive brushing or tongue movements.Continuous erosion can expose the underlying dentine, which causes people to suffer sensitivity and pain. After analysing nine fluoridated toothpastes that are available in India,including Colgate and Sensodyne Rapid Relief, researchers found enamel loss still occurs to some extent despite regular brushing. Speaking of the importance of a complete oral-care regimen, study author Dr Samira Helena João-Souza, from the University of São Paulo said 'Dental erosion is multifactorial. It has to do with brushing, and above all, with diet. 'Food and drink are increasingly acidic as a result of industrial processing.' Oxytocin hormone misuse in dairy and farming.

The hormone is also used to increase the size of vegetables such as pumpkins, watermelons, brinjals, gourds and cucumbers.   Oxytocin is a peptide hormone secreted by the posterior pituitary gland and is now chemically synthesised. It has medical use for induction and augmentation of labour, to control post- partum bleeding and uterine hypotonicity. The drug is also used in veterinary in case of retention of placenta and expulsion of foetus.  "Oxytocin injections are being illicitly used by dairy owners to extract milk leading to its harmful effects on humans as well as livestock. We want a strict surveillance for this drug. Despite a ban, it is being used in the dairy industry without a prescription from a registered medical practitioner.
